Welcome to The Sew School

I inherited my love of creativity and sewing from my “Mama” Margaret who taught me from a very young age that the only limit to what I could make was my imagination. I loved sitting on her knee and pretending to be helpful while she whipped me up a new skirt or dress on her Janome sewing machine.

In primary school it became a weekly ritual that I would sew with her after school, always wearing my new project home! After studying a bachelor of fashion design at Billy Blue my passion and creativity for sewing burnt out for a couple of years thinking that the only way forward was commercial design.

I feel so lucky to have my sewing spark re-ignited in 2022 when I decided that I could just sew for fun as a hobby!

Sewing is such a fabulous life skill and creative outlet to have. Once you’ve got the basics down pat the world is your oyster in terms of what you can make and where sewing will take you.

My purpose is to show people that sewing doesn’t have to be scary or hard, sure you’ll get very acquainted with your unpicker but that’s all part of the journey. Anyone can learn to sew and The Sew School exists to provide a space for you to slow down from the pressures of modern life and learn practical skills that will last a lifetime.

I’m so pleased that sewing has piqued your interest and I’m honoured that you’re considering The Sew School to help you learn the fundamentals of sewing.
